Leighton moves to new city centre offices

Leading AWS software development company, Leighton, has reached a significant milestone as it celebrates the growth of its team to 100 colleagues following another year of sustained growth.

The company, which specialises in building software products and optimising processes to accelerate digital transformation for its customers, saw a 31% increase in revenue during the 2024 financial year and is set for another year of record performance at the end of the 2025 financial year with projected growth in the double figures.

The rapid expansion comes alongside its move to new headquarters at Cubo Newcastle.

The relocation reinforces its commitment to maintaining headquarters in the North East while supporting its rapidly increasing, hybrid workforce who will be able to take advantage of Cubo’s national network of locations.

Speaking on the move James Bunting, CEO at Leighton said: “This transition marks a significant milestone for Leighton, as we continue to invest in an environment where our team and customers can come together to thrive, collaborate and innovate.

“Access to Cubo’s office network across the UK is important to us as it will ensure all of our team will have access to spaces where great work happens, and our culture comes to life. It also reflects our ongoing commitment to retaining a headquarters in the North East and supporting the growing tech sector in the region.”

Throughout 2024 Leighton has also made key strategic appointments designed to strengthen its leadership team, support its growth and continue the delivery of exceptional results for its clients.

North East tech leader, Lee Gilmore has joined the team as Principal Solutions Architect bringing over two decades of experience with him having previously held roles at the AA, BT, Sage, AO and City Electrical Factors.

He has volunteered as an AWS Community Builder for the last four years and was very recently recognised by Amazon as an AWS Serverless Hero for 2024, one of only 17 in the UK and one of two in the North of England.

Meanwhile Clare Gledhill has also joined the company as Chief Consulting Officer to lead on the company’s consultancy offering which provides embedded expertise to accelerate project delivery.

Lee Gilmore, new recruit and Principal Solutions Architect at Leighton said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining Leighton.
